backup-forge

PyQt6 backup job manager — part of the Forge Suite by dev-boffin-io.

Features

  • Job profiles saved to ~/.backup-forge-jobs.json
  • rsync — -av --progress, delete, compress, checksum, dry-run, excludes, bandwidth limit
  • tar — .tar.gz archive with timestamp filename
  • zip — .zip archive with timestamp filename
  • Live output log with streaming (line by line)
  • Stop running job anytime
  • History log saved to ~/.backup-forge-history.json
  • Remote sources/destinations via rsync SSH (user@host:/path)

Install

pip install PyQt6
# rsync, tar, zip must be installed (available on most Linux distros)

Run

python app.py

Platform

Linux · macOS (rsync/tar built-in)
Windows: use WSL or replace rsync with robocopy
